As we wrote a few days ago, we finally heard that our application to adopt was accepted by the Colombian government. They put us on the 0-2 baby wait list. The agency, aware that we are also open to adopting siblings, is going to keep us in mind if anything comes up that would be a good match for our family. After going through this process, I think I'm hoping for siblings! But we'll see what God has in store for us.
Meanwhile, since we have about a 3 year wait ahead of us, we are going to fill those years with lots of exciting things as a couple. We are starting off with a trip to Thailand and Cambodia in April. I'm having so much fun playing travel agent and planning for that trip. We are also hoping to travel to England at some point within the next year. We are not homebodies, and we love to travel. One of my home projects for this year is to get a huge world map that would take up a large portion of one of our walls. We are going to keep track of where in the world we travel by tacking in pictures and small inscriptions around the countries on our wall. My goal is to visit every continent before we go on to be with the Lord (yes, even Antarctica!).
We also know that we need to get our acts together and start learning our Spanish. Go Rosetta Stone! If any of you start that program, one thing I recommend is getting a GOOD microphone for it. Tim has a really good one, and he flies through the program. My microphone was the freebie that came with it, and whenever either of us tries to use it, we end up cursing into it instead of speaking Spanish because it doesn't pick up anything we say! It's a good practice in patience, I guess.
So we are making the most of our time, building our savings, learning Spanish, and traveling all over the place. It's an exciting time, and we are excited that we are finally counting DOWN to the day we get our child(ren).
ohmygosh! i have been looking at trips to antactica for our next trip! i think that would be a fun way for brian and me to celebrate our 10th anniversary next year. :) it's expensive though. but that's so cool that you guys want to do that at some point too...i usually get strange looks for mentioning it.
