What do the Children's Museum, naps, and the pool all have in common? They are all part of my first official day of being a stay-at-home mom! I was really nervous leading up to this day because it was going to be the beginning of my new life, at least for the next year. However, things went so smoothly today that I am actually a bit nervous that it started off too well!
I joined a couple of playgroups through http://www.meetup.com/. If you haven't discovered this website and you are a stay-at-home mom, you have got to check it out! Today, I went to my first "outing" with one of the playgroups. One of my friends was going, too, so I definitely felt comfortable.
The Hannan circus arrived at the Children's Museum at exactly 10:30 which is when we were all supposed to meet. I was pretty proud of myself for pulling that off! Katie was extremely clingy at first and cried quite a bit, but as we progressed through the different playrooms, she began to relax and play more. I'm sure that it was very overwhelming not having Daddy there and being encouraged to play with all of these strange new kids. I was proud of her for being brave and trying new things today.
Rosa was just not a happy camper today. She didn't really want to eat much, wanted to be held most of the day, and just was cranky. Her drooling went to a whole new level, so I'm highly suspicious that she might be close to finally cutting her new teeth. Please just break through already!
When the girls woke up from their afternoon nap, Daddy came home, and we headed over to the local rec center to swim. We swam everyday in Monteria, so I think we all missed it a bit. Unfortunately for Katie, it wasn't a quiet pool like Monteria. There were kids flying in all directions. She clung to Daddy most of the night. Rosa? She was having the time of her life. She kicked and paddled with her arms, floated on her back, put her face in the water, and just smiled and smiled. We were glad that she could enjoy SOMETHING today!
And now, they are sleeping peacefully - both worn out from a long, eventful day.
Tomorrow, they get to be vampires! It's blood drawing day. Won't that be fun...
