Referral!

I laughed when I saw the date of my last post on here.  But that goes to show you that not much has really happened during the last couple of years.

However, that has all changed.  About a month ago, our representative from CHI called to tell us that there was a possibility that we may be able to adopt two children from Colombia.  They were within the age range we requested, and it was the perfect opportunity.  She asked us to write a letter to state our interest in the children which we did immediately.  But she said that it wasn't something she could guarantee, so we needed to wait for word from her after the letter was sent.

The following week, she called to tell us that they were actually two girls.  My heart skipped a beat - oh my!  What fun!

Then, on December 7th, she called to tell us that we had been officially matched with these beautiful little princesses.  I remember that day so clearly.  Tim was the one who found out first.  He texted me while I was in class and said that I needed to drop everything and call him.  I ran and got the guidance counselor across the hall to cover my class, and I called him.  He, through a flood of joyful tears, told me that I was going to be a mommy.  I cried and cried!

Since then, it has been a whirlwind.  We had to update our records with the FBI, and they told us that it would be 12 weeks.  They would not expedite it.  They would not let us bring it down in person.  *sigh*  So we got our congressman to step in, and he has helped move that along.  We are also in the midst of updating other things for our paperwork.  Because of the wait times, we thought we wouldn't be able to travel until March.

However, yesterday, our representative called us and told us that a good date would be February 7th.  AHHHH!!!  Now everything really went full steam ahead.  So much to do in just a month!

But God's timing is perfect.  It has been perfect through this whole process.  It was perfect when we got the call about this opportunity an hour before we were supposed to be non-refundable plane tickets to Ireland!  It was perfect in that this came two days after our support group of family increased here in our city.  It is PERFECT.  He will provide all we need and it will all work out according to His plan.  We just have to trust Him and let Him do His work.

Merry Christmas to everyone!  I know ours is going to be one to remember!

  1. Congratulations! What an amazing gift. We had originally requested 2 children but since our son was so young at the time they told us the wait time would be ridiculous but you are proof that miracles happen! Our daughter is from the Cordoba region (we stayed in Monteria). You will fall in love with the people - they are amazing!!
