Discoveries and Questions

Over the last 11 days, we have learned quite a bit about how to be parents to our girls.  We are kind of doing a "crash course" while here in Monteria, and so far, even with the ups and downs, things are moving along quite nicely with our relationship with them.

We have discovered that Katie will fall asleep easily if we gently hold down our arms with our feet and lightly massage her legs and feet.  She falls asleep within 5 minutes - today she actually gave me a big smile and then closed her eyes before going down for her morning nap.

Rosa has made her little bumble bee her "lovie."  Bumblebee goes everywhere with us.  At first, it was a comfort object in the bath.  Then it also went to the pool with us.  Now?  It goes EVERYWHERE.  At one point, we accidentally left bumblebee in the pool. We were all dry and about to head to our room.  Then Tim asked, "Where's bumblebee?"  We looked around in a panic, and then I saw bumblebee was hanging out at the bottom of the pool.  So Mommy had to go back in and retrieve it because we are NOT about to lose that bumblebee!

No word from the lawyer yet.  Our translator said that we will probably hear from her early next week.  Until then, we are just biding our time and getting to know each other as well as Monteria.

So here are my questions:

1)  There are gigantic lines of people waiting outside of the Olympia grocery store here.  We just walk right in, but they are waiting for something.  It has been for the past 3 days.  We think it may have something to do with foodstamps, but we can't tell.  Does anyone who has been here know?

2)  Where or WHERE can I get bug spray?  Bugs just love me (Ginny), and I am getting eaten alive here, especially if we don't make it out of the park before dark due to the fact that our little Katie takes an hour to eat the gigantic amounts of food she somehow fits in her stomach!

  1. Ask the hotel maid service. They gave us some to use. Our room was SWARMING with ants & bugs and because Angelica could not walk she was getting bitten. They sprayed our room every day and then gave us additional can to keep with us.

Glad things are going better. Your girls are so sweet.

  2. Yikes, Deanna! We have been lucky in that we haven't seen too many bugs in our room. I might just have a breakdown if that were to happen! But the bugs at the park are just ruthless!
