A GOOD day

I feel like I need to type this now while the day is still going well!  Although Rosa woke up at 3am for a bottle, she went back to sleep, and both girls slept until 6:30.  Woohoo!  Much better than the 5:30 wakeup yesterday.

Both girls woke up in bright spirits.  Rosa was extra giggly this morning and just smiling all over the place.  Katie decided that today was going to be the day that she stopped clinging so tightly to Mommy and would start accepting Daddy.  She let him hold her while we ate breakfast, she let him wrestle with her on the bed, and she even let him swim with her in the pool.  Tim and I decided last night that he was going to start trying to initiate more contact with her even if it meant some tears, but honestly, there have been very few tears today.  She has even been better with Rosa.  Less hair pulling (probably due to the timeout we finally had to give her yesterday even though we didn't want to) and only a few on-purpose kicks aimed at Rosa's face.  We managed to deflect them though!

The staff here is being so great to us.  We especially like Pedro (Peter) and Miguel.  They have been so welcoming to the girls and help us with them whenever they can.  Miguel was kind enough to bring water down to the girls at the pool.  What a blessing!

Apparently, these girls never had sippy cups before.  They are masters at drinking out of cups.  Katie can carry a cup of water and hold it correctly while she drinks.  Rosa is great at drinking out of a cup as well even though she can't hold it yet.  Katie is hilarious with sippies.  She keeps tipping them upside down and is amazed that they don't drip.

Rosa said her first words with us today.  She said Baba (bottle) and Agua.  She is also getting very expressive when she wants something.  She gets mad at the bottle because she can't drink it fast enough.  Although if I put a faster flowing nipple on it, she will gag because she already drinks the current bottles too fast.

Well, Katie is waking up from her nap, but thanks again everyone for your comments and your support.  We excitedly read every comment you guys post and are soaking up the advice and encouragement you give!

  1. So glad for the pep in your voice today! Becoming a Mami and Papi over night to two little ones is a handful, but each day will offer new promise and more wisdom and comfort on your part. The girls are SO BEAUTIFUL! Know we are praying for a speedy Sentencia and lots of great bonding! Love and Prayers...The Hollis Family

  2. Glad things are going smoothly. Each day gets a little easier as they become more comfortable and used to the routine. The one good thing about Monteria it was fairly easy to establish a routine. The Hotel Sinu staff are amazing!! Angelica (at 19 months) could not chew and all her meals had to come from a bottle or something she could just swallow. Every day for 3 weeks they would make sure at breakfast that we had mashed potatoes, pureed fruit for her. Hope your meeting goes well on Monday and that you'll soon be heading to Bogota. Have you seen the monkeys at the park yet? Angelica got the biggest kick out of watching them.
