Home Sick

Yesterday was a beautiful day.  We met our daughters at the ICBF office, and it was magical.  Sandra (Katie) was placed in my arms, and she really hasn't left since.  Rosa was fast asleep - something she likes to do a lot of!  We woke her though so that she wouldn't be afraid later.  Everyone there was so encouraging, and they did everything they could to make sure that we had as much information about the girls as possible.  We were so grateful to Senora Candida for kindly answering as many of our questions as possible and for taking the time to get to know us before the girls were brought in.

So now, I present to you, Rosa and Sandra (soon to be Katie):
Rosa Maria Hannan

Katie Marcela Hannan

Rosa Maria sleeping

Katie asleep in Momma's lap
We have been learning so much about them already.  They are both water babies.  Rosa will splash and splash and splash.  Katie already loves to head out on her own in the water which makes Momma nervous, but it is also a good thing!  Katie scratches her head furiously when she is tired (no lice -no worries!) and Rosa sucks her thumb when she is tired.  Rosa loves to make music with her lips, and it is a huge comic relief when we need a laugh.  Katie loves to read books.  We are actually learning which cries are for food, being tired, or wanting Momma.  It has only been two days, too!

Momma is getting very homesick.  I miss American food, I miss my family at home, and I miss speaking English to people.  NO ONE speaks much English here, and I never realized how lonely that would make me.  I've honestly never really been homesick like this before, so it is a new feeling.  However, something that makes me feel better is looking at the beautiful faces of my daughters, and then everything is okay.

I would write more right now, but we have clothes to "wash" in the tub, cleaning up to do, and journals to write.

Many blessings, Ginny

  2. They are so cute and sweet. I'm not sure what we would have done in Monteria without the pool. It was as a lifesaver. Enjoy the time you have with nothing else to do but love your girls...you will so miss it when you return. They are adorable.
