Yesterday was a pretty negative post, so let's try to balance that out with a positive post today. I'm going to focus on what I love most about my new daughters.
Katie:
1) She is a little gymnast! She LOVES to do somersaults and flips, and she enjoys having Daddy swing her around upside down. It is hilarious, but at times it makes my heart skip a beat, especially when she stands at the edge of our bed and flies straight into her mattress on the floor.
2) She loves to swim. She is a little fish in the water. Today, I taught her how to kick her legs, and she really liked that.
3) Did I mention that she is the most beautiful little girl? LOVE her little curls and her smile.
Rosa:
1) She is the most content little baby, except when she is hungry or teething. I think her most content moments are when Daddy is changing her diaper and she tried to fling the diaper - which she did successfully this morning much to Daddy's dismay. Mommy had to laugh a bit at Daddy about that.
2) She likes it when we sing to her. His face just lights up, and she will kick her legs and arms like crazy!
3) She is also tied for the most beautiful little girl. She looks almost exactly like her sister, and we have already had someone ask if they are twins.
Today was a better day. Luckily, we are having UP days to balance out the tough days.
Glad to hear that today is an "up" day. Keep at it and soon there will be more "up" days than down days. I thought a lot about you guys last night and what your going through right now and what I posted last night. In the end, it was a blessing we did not know of Angelica's medical condition and delays prior to travel because I am not certain we would have pursued the adoption. However, Angelica has exceeded all the doctor's and therapists expectations. Our neurologist can't believe she's the same little girl and at her last appointment he told us she's proving the best therapy is love and her need for a family. Now we can't begin to imagine life without her and how much we love her. The same for your girls. They will continue to grow and blossom with your love as you help make up for all they've missed.
ReplyDeleteI am a little jealous of your girls curls. Angelica has not one curl or wave in her hair but we have dimples!! Your girls are so cute and love seeing their pics. Hugs to all of you! Our girlie turns 6 tomorrow!
Yay for up days! There are times in the beginning of parenthood where you think that they will never come. BUt then, suddenly, one shows up when you need it most.
ReplyDeleteWe have a book of prayer intentions in our church. Jack insisted on going over to it the other day (which he has never done before). I looked at it after he had finished writing. In second grader scrawl it said, "God please bless mommy (katy flaherty) until she finishes school. She is a good mommy and teacher." I started crying on the spot. The goods will out weigh the bads even when it doesn't feel like it. You will be/are such amazing parents!!!! What lucky little girls!
