Every other day of the week is filled with mass chaos. My head spins constantly, and I can't think with all of the craziness going on around me. Cars beep ten times a second, music plays from vendor stands as the vendors shout at you to buy their piece of fruit because it is ten times better than the vendor across the street who bought their fruit at the same source, and people scream into microphones in the stores telling you about their specials and interviewing customers as music blares even louder. Saturday nights are the worst because a place behind our hotel BLASTS music until 3 or 4 in the morning. Must be some sort of fiesta going on there each week.
But Sundays...sweet sweet Sundays. Barely a car passes us as we walk on the streets. We can actually break out the strollers and walk with them on the streets because there isn't mass chaos going on around us. We are literally the only ones staying at the hotel on this day. My head clears. I can think. I can breathe.
Today, after a week of uncertainty and loss of structure, we settled back into our family routine. Breakfast, family laundry time, pool, naps, pizza place for lunch, walk through the park (it is acceptable to take your kids out in the middle of the day on Sundays because it is apparently cooler on Sundays - not my logic!), play in the room, go out for dinner, walk through the park, sleep. It is such a simple routine, but something we need in the mass chaos of Monteria.
Certainly, during this trip, I have learned that I could never live in the city. I've got suburbs on my mind...

I know, its freaky. Their all gone and then come Monday morning their all back. We were out after dark one night (coming home from the circus) and it was much scarier on Sun than during the week. Enjoy your last few days in Monteria. Bogota bound soon and then home. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSundays freaked me out....maybe because we had a "bad" Sunday experience in Monteria. (Not bad in how you think.) It must have been our first Sunday there because it didn't happen again. Girls were fussy and I think my brother had left --- we didn't go out and get food and everything closed. After the little ones went to bed, Mark, Hannah & I looked at each other and OH NO...we were hungry and had no food. We ate saltine crackers and Coke. LOL It worked out except Hannah woke up during the night quit sick. She had taken her medicine before bed obviously on an empty stomach...not good. Still no food during the night so gave her oreos and propel....YUCK. But it helped her feel better. LOL Good we can laugh now right?
